In what's become a running theme this season, the Lakewood Lancers gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cabrillo 65-16 on the road. Given Lakewood's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Cabrillo is ranked 789th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nyemah King continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 30 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals. King is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Cristina Jones was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Lakewood pushed their record up to 19-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points per game. As for Cabrillo, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-13.
Lakewood will be playing in front of their home fans against Long Beach Poly at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Long Beach Poly focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 last Saturday. As for Cabrillo, they will head out on the road to take on Compton at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Compton and Cabrillo are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
