The Stockdale Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They suffered a rough 54-28 loss at the hands of Independence. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Stockdale has suffered against Independence since January 8, 2016.
Leading Independence to victory were Olivia Fletcher and Kaylynn Bolden. Fletcher scored 17 points along with seven steals, while Bolden dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Bolden has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Victoria Castaneda, who scored ten points.
Stockdale's defeat was their 13th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-15. As for Independence, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season.
Stockdale will head out on the road to challenge Garces Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Garces Memorial comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Independence, they will play host again and welcome Bakersfield Christian, where tip off is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Bakersfield Christian will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
