Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hesperia Christian). They put the hurt on Excelsior Charter with a sharp 25-3 win on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.
Luke Beasley and Cory Villalba made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Beasley tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Villalba tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Beasley is becoming a predictor of Hesperia Christian's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 3-1 (and 8-9 when he doesn't). At the plate, Beasley went 2-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double, while Villalba got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Beasley has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Ezra Hawthorne was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and seven RBI. What's more, he posted two stolen bases, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Sanchez, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Hesperia Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.
Palmdale Academy Charter School's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 3-11. As for Hesperia Christian, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Palmdale Academy Charter School has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hesperia Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
