The Calaveras Red Hawks won the last time they faced the Linden Lions, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Calaveras simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Linden 59-15 at home. Given Calaveras' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 498th, while Linden is ranked 1110th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Calaveras' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Izzy Tapia, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 17 rebounds. Tapia is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Ginger Scheidt was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 6 steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Calaveras and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for Linden, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Calaveras will take on McFarland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. McFarland comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Linden's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lathrop at 7:00 p.m. on December 7th.
