The Escalon Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 22 points or more this season. They took their matchup on the road on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 50-23 victory over Ripon Christian. The victory was just business as usual for Escalon, who after 17 games remain undefeated this season.
It was another big night for Sammy Lang, who scored 15 points along with nine steals and five rebounds. The game was her tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Madison Babasa, who scored 12 points.
When it comes to explaining why Ripon Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Reagan Van der hoek. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with 12 rebounds. Van der hoek is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games she's played. Allison Copland was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Ripon Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Escalon posted 12 assists.
Escalon pushed their record up to 17-0 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Ripon Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.
Escalon will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Ripon at 7:00 p.m. Ripon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 758th, while Escalon is ranked 139th). As for Ripon Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Livingston at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Livingston focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Thursday.
