The Center Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a 61-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sutter. Center was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Laylarae Blake, who scored ten points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Blake has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Miessah Sagun, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
It was another big night for Torrence Harter, who dropped a triple-double on 13 points, 14 rebounds, and ten steals for Sutter. Harter is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Reet Bains was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Center's loss dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Sutter, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-12 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Center will take on the Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Colfax is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Sutter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bruins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Bear River will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
