Uncommitted running back out of Alabama has hit pay dirt 46 times in 2019.
Jalen White is approaching the magical 1,000-yard rushing plateau while running for 15 touchdowns. The 6-foot, 203-pound senior from
Daleville (Ala.) has piled up 927 yards on, remarkably, only 35 carries, for an almost preposterous 26.4-yards-per-carry average.
Most remarkably, is that White has boasted all those numbers in — get this — his last two games.
On Oct. 18, the nation's leading rusher carried 26 times for 465 yards and seven touchdowns in a 70-51 win over Geneva County. That 17.9-yards-per-carry average in that game paled in comparison to Friday, when it took White just nine attempts to go for 462 yards — a gaudy 51.3 average — and eight scores in a 78-26 win over Barbour County.
That upped White's season totals to 197 carries for 3,381 yards (17.1 average) and 46 touchdowns for the 7-3 Warhawks. He's rushed for more than 600 yards better than anyone else in the country.
Benjamin Jackson of
West Greene (Waynesburg, Pa.) ranks second with 2,705 rushing yards.
White told
247Sports that he's received only one FBS offer — Alabama A&M — with others coming from North Alabama, South Alabama and Tennessee State. He told 247Sports reporter John Garcia Jr. that he's not real happy with the lack of attention, especially considering he has 4.59 speed in the 40 and is good in the weight- and classroom.
His dream school is Oregon.
"I believe it's because I'm from a smaller school, not as known," he said. "Schools probably think it's not as competitive, which could be true, but I don't know. ... I'm just as talented, if not better, than players in higher classifications.
"I went into this season with a chip on my shoulder and it's been all about proving myself this season."
