There's no place like home for the Mentor Cardinals, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Friday. They took their matchup at home on Saturday with ease, bagging a 85-47 victory over East Tech. That looming 85-47 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Mentor yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mentor to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matthew Biddell, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Ian Ioppolo was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, East Tech had strong showings from Keshawn Ellington, who scored 15 points along with three steals, and Chris Simon, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Mentor's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 91.1 points per game. As for East Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mentor will take on the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Euclid has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 6. As for East Tech, they will head out on the road to square off against the Lakers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Max S. Hayes will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 764th, while the Scarabs are ranked 346th).
