The La Jolla Vikings will head out on the road to take on the High Tech SD Storm at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (La Jolla is ranked 562nd, while High Tech SD is ranked 583rd).
La Jolla posted their biggest victory since November 17, 2023 on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Canyon Hills 57-24 at home. The victory was nothing new for La Jolla as they're now sitting on three straight.
La Jolla's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isabella Policaro, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Policaro hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Bennett, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, High Tech SD unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Hoover by a score of 41-38. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for High Tech SD in their matchups with Hoover: they've now lost five in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kylei Hayward, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and four steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Emma LaSalle, who scored ten points along with seven steals and six assists.
La Jolla's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for High Tech SD, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: La Jolla have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 25 rebounds per game. It's a different story for High Tech SD, though, as they've been averaging only 37 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for La Jolla against High Tech SD when the teams last played back in February of 2022 as the squad secured a 48-18 victory. Will La Jolla repeat their success, or does High Tech SD have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
