The Canyon Cowboys struggled with assists on Wednesday (the Harvard-Westlake Wolverines had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Canyon was the victim of a rough 68-43 loss at the hands of Harvard-Westlake. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Canyon has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Canyon had strong showings from Isabella Escribano, who scored 26 points, and Kodia ?Koko? Booker, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Escribano scored a full 60.5% of Canyon's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Canyon struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Harvard-Westlake to victory, but perhaps none more so than Angelina Habis, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Habis set a new season high mark in points with 19. Valentina Guerrero was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Canyon and nudges their season record down to 4-4. As for Harvard-Westlake, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.
Canyon won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Calabasas at 7:00 p.m. on December 7th. Calabasas is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Harvard-Westlake will be staying on the road on December 14th to face off against Redondo Union at 7:00 p.m. on December 14th. Redondo Union presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Harvard-Westlake in California (Redondo Union is ranked 28th, while Harvard-Westlake is ranked 346th).
