Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 24 to 1 on the offensive boards, a fact the Carson Colts proved on Monday. They breezed by Diego Rivera at home to the tune of 78-6. With Carson ahead 43-4 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Leading Carson to victory were Faith Woodson and Sydney Jackson. Woodson scored 8 points along with 14 rebounds and 9 assists, while Jackson scored 22 points along with 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Wheeler, who scored 11 points along with 4 steals.
Several Huskies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bridgette Jimenez , who scored 2 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Jimenez scored a full 33.3% of Diego Rivera's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Brianna Collins was another key contributor, scoring 2 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Carson and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Diego Rivera, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Carson will head out on the road to face off against Bell at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 585th, while Carson is ranked 105th). As for Diego Rivera, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Torres at 4:30 p.m.
