Football Recap: Liberal Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Liberal strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 39-32 victory over the Garden City Buffaloes. The Redskins have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Buffaloes, too.

A big part of Liberal's win came down to the chemistry between Tevin Cotter and his top target James Fieser. Cotter threw for 384 yards and five TDs while completing 72.2% of his passes while Fieser picked up 226 receiving yards and three scores. Those five passing touchdowns gave Cotter a new career-high. Max Holman did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 77 receiving yards.

Liberal's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Garden City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberal will head out to face off against Great Bend at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Redskins will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Garden City, they will head out on the road to square off against Southeast on Friday.
