The Garey Vikings stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat La Puente 62-2 at home. The victory was familiar territory for Garey who now have six in a row.
Aaliyah (AJ) Jones continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 14 points along with seven steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamya Slay, who scored 15 points along with four steals.
Garey's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points per game. As for La Puente, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garey will face off against Bassett at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Bassett comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. La Puente on the road again on Friday and play against Edgewood at 4:45 p.m. on January 19th. Edgewood has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
