It was a good run, but the Willits Wolverines unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 51-25 defeat at the hands of Round Valley. Having soared to a lofty 55 points in the game before, Willits couldn't push the score so high this time.
Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hazel Cooke, who scored 13 points. Cooke scored a full 52% of Willits' points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Cecily Potter, who scored 9 points.
Willits' defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Round Valley, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Willits is on the road again on Friday and play against South Fork at 3:00 p.m. on December 8th. Round Valley will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Laytonville at 4:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
