After losing to the Gompers Prep Academy Eagles the last time they met, the Mountain Empire Redhawks decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Mountain Empire came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 38-29 on Thursday.
Carli McGhee was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Aisha Acevedo, who scored eight points.
Gompers Prep Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kamariyah Mccollough, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Valerie Garcia, who scored seven points.
Mountain Empire's victory bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Gompers Prep Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain Empire will take on the Legionnaires at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bonsall comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Gompers Prep Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cavaliers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
