The Creekside Christian Academy Cougars will face off against the Lanier Christian Academy Lightning on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Creekside Christian Academy comes in on 13 and Lanier Christian Academy on three.
Creekside Christian Academy's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over Peachtree Academy. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Carter Mcginnis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, Trey Gatlin was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Daylen Williams, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Lanier Christian Academy posted their closest win since March 13th on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Young Americans Christian, sneaking past 7-6.
Lanier Christian Academy's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Strabala, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The Lightning are undefeated when Strabala posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Tres Criste was another, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Creekside Christian Academy pushed their record up to 20-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lanier Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Creekside Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lanier Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Creekside Christian Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Lanier Christian Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2023, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
