The Miramonte Matadors posted their biggest win since December 12, 2023 on Thursday. They blew past Concord, posting a 60-26 victory at home. Given Miramonte's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 341st, while Concord is ranked 968th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Karena Eberts was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 33 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Miramonte's points. Julia Quinn Ferguson was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven steals and six rebounds.
Lamiyah Washington and Janiyah Royal certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Washington scored eight points along with eight steals, while Royal scored no points along with six rebounds and two steals. Washington hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games.
Miramonte has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for Concord, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10.
Miramonte will be playing at home against Northgate at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Northgate will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Concord, they will head out on the road to face off against College Park at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully College Park focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday.
