Despite the loss, Lincoln Leadership Academy still got an impressive performance from Alania Ortiz, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Ortiz has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Arielle Taylor was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds.
Marian Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carly Minchhoff led the charge by scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The match was Minchhoff's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Frankie Martinelli, who scored 14 points along with seven assists and five steals.
Lincoln Leadership Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3. As for Marian Catholic, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln Leadership Academy will take on Weatherly at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Marian Catholic, they will be playing at home against Mahanoy Area at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mahanoy Area will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 564th, while Marian Catholic is ranked 91st).
