The Tamaqua Blue Raiders have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 43-35 to Blue Mountain on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Tamaqua in their matchups with Blue Mountain: they've now lost five in a row.
Tamaqua's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lorelei Plasha, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Ligenza, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Tamaqua's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3. As for Blue Mountain, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.
Tamaqua will head out on the road to square off against Pottsville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pottsville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 507th, while Tamaqua is ranked 188th). As for Blue Mountain, they will be playing at home against Lehighton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Lehighton's defense has only allowed 28 points per game this season, so Blue Mountain's offense will have their work cut out for them.
