Alex Tavlarides made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Jill Samaras and Brynn Huckemeyer did most of the damage at the plate: Samaras went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Huckemeyer went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave Huckemeyer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alexis Colvin, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Regis Jesuit kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Rock Canyon couldn't beat Legend on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Jaguars lost 12-4 to the Titans. The Jaguars have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Dakota Dugan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Regis Jesuit's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-9. As for Rock Canyon, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 10-8.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Regis Jesuit hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331.
