Friday just wasn't the day for Pataula Charter Academy's offense. They came up short against Baconton Charter on Friday, falling 15-0. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Blazers: they've now lost eight in a row.
Meanwhile, Seminole County won against Early County on Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Seminole County blew past Early County 10-4. Considering the Indians have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
John Walker and Jonathan Jarvis were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Walker didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 5.2 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Jarvis pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Walker has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Walker went 1-for-3 with two RBI, while Jarvis went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three doubles, and two runs. Those three doubles gave Jarvis a new career-high.
In other batting news, Brayden Hodges and Brennan McGowan did most of the damage at the plate: Hodges scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while McGowan scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kade Touchton, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Seminole County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Early County only managed four hits.
The victory (which was Seminole County's third in a row) raised their record to 10-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pataula Charter Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pataula Charter Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Seminole County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
