Softball Recap: St. Cecilia Now 10-2 over Last 12 Games

St. Cecilia came out on top against Boone Central on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Bluehawks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cardinals a 9-0 shutout. Considering the Bluehawks have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Audrey Rossow made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Kyler Weidner was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Avery Kissinger was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

St. Cecilia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boone Central only posted a batting average of .125.

St. Cecilia is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Boone Central, their loss dropped their record down to 13-12.

Coming up, St. Cecilia will venture away from home to take on McCook at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bluehawks are facing the Bison at the right time seeing as the Bison are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Boone Central, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Ponca at 5:30 p.m.
