Lincoln East won the last time they faced North Platte and things went their way on Saturday too. The Spartans blew past the Bulldogs 13-3. Considering the Spartans have won ten games by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Savannah Stahly looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lucy Barrett was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Coleman, who went 2-for-3 with four runs and two stolen bases.
Lincoln East's record is now 15-11. As for North Platte, they moved to 14-12 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Coincidentally, Lincoln East and North Platte will both be playing Grand Island the next time they take the field. The Spartans will head out to face the Islanders at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Bulldogs will head out to face them on Monday.
