The Hanford West Huskies will venture away from home to challenge the Washington Union Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Hanford West has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Friday, Hanford West needed a bit of extra time to put away Exeter. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Monarchs 9-8. The Huskies' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Landon Silva made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ben Ritchie, who scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was King Mitre, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Hanford West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Exeter only managed six hits.
Meanwhile, Washington Union hadn't done well against Kerman recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Panthers never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory.
Not much got past Trey Morris, who gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Kerman off the board. Morris has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
Hanford West has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Washington Union, their record now sits at 11-4.
Hanford West came out on top in a nail-biter against Washington Union in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
