The San Dieguito Academy Mustangs will face off against the Canyon Hills Rattlers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. San Dieguito Academy has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 1st.
On Friday, San Dieguito Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Canyon Crest Academy and fell 8-7.
Patrick Krenkler put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Gage Garrison made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Elis Rosenzweig, who earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Canyon Hills, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 win over Crawford on Tuesday. Considering the Rattlers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Taylon Sheriff was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Canyon Hills: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-10-2 otherwise. Elijah Shoate was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Canyon Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Canyon Hills' victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 7-10-2. As for San Dieguito Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-16.
San Dieguito Academy took their win against Canyon Hills when the teams last played back in March of 2021 by a conclusive 13-2 score. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Rattlers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
