The Valley Christian Defenders are taking a road trip to take on the West Covina Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Valley Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Valley Christian had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Miller on Tuesday. Valley Christian put the hurt on Miller with a sharp 11-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Defenders considering their one-run performance the contest before.

At the plate, Quintin Ekstrom was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. RJ Estrada was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Valley Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, West Covina came up short against Montebello on Wednesday and fell 6-1. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Marcus Mayweather was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Valley Christian's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for West Covina, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Valley Christian beat West Covina 9-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2021. Will Valley Christian repeat their success, or does West Covina has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
