The Thousand Oaks Lancers will take on the Claremont Wolfpack at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Thousand Oaks comes in on four and Claremont on five.
Thousand Oaks is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over La Quinta. That's two games straight that the Lancers have won by exactly four runs.
Jaden Kolkowski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on James Luderer, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jake Ange, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Apple Valley typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Claremont proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Sun Devils, sneaking past 2-1.
Claremont also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Wyatt Green gave up a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. Green also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Wolfpack are 7-2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-10 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Claremont secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Ramzey Farah, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Claremont hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in five consecutive games.
Thousand Oaks' win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-12. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Claremont, their win bumped their record up to 14-12-1.
