There's no place like home for the Shamokin Area Indians, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 45-34 win over Selinsgrove on Thursday. Given Shamokin Area's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while Selinsgrove is ranked 481st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Seals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Erika Piepszowski, who scored eight points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Kristin Shaffer, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Shamokin Area pushed their record up to 11-3 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home. As for Selinsgrove, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shamokin Area will challenge Midd-West at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Midd-West has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 12. As for Selinsgrove, they will head out on the road to take on Danville at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Danville is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
