Basalt had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but  on Saturday they dropped down to 0-5 to make it seven. They came up short against  the Cedaredge Bruins, falling  18-8.   Elsie Mile made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and  went 2-for-3 with two  runs and one  RBI.  Peyton Aanonsen also deserves some recognition as  she  got her first  hits of the season.
As for Cedaredge, the  win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Those  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 15.6 runs this season.
On Cedaredge's side,  Tia Homedew was a  major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  tossed four innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   three  hits. Homedew was even better at the plate,  going 2-for-3 with three  RBI, two  runs,  and one  triple.
 In other batting news, Cedaredge let  Kiera Stroh and  Mia Gallegos run wild. Stroh  got on base  in all five of her plate appearances with five  runs, two  stolen bases,  and one  RBI, while  Gallegos  went a perfect 4-for-4 with five  RBI, two  doubles,  and one  run.  Chloee Hebert was another key player,  getting on base  in three of her five plate appearances with two  runs and one  RBI.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Basalt will challenge Platte Valley at 1:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Cedaredge, they will take on Durango at 3:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Bruins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Demons have averaged an impressive 8.8  runs per game this season.
