Reseda has been on the road for four straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Sylmar Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Reseda will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 579th, while Sylmar is ranked 130th).
Last Thursday, things could have been worse for Reseda, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-33 loss to Northridge Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Reseda in their matchups with Northridge Academy: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Sylmar waltzed into Friday's game with two straight wins but they left with three. They breezed by South Gate on the road to the tune of 58-8. With that victory, Sylmar brought their scoring average up to 50.3 points per game.
Sylmar can attribute much of their success to Vivianna Alvarado, who scored 18 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Alvarado has scored at least 25% of Sylmar's points. Brianna Cordova was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences' victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Reseda's defeat dropped theirs to 2-1.
Reseda took a serious blow against Sylmar in their previous matchup back in February, falling 59-29. Thankfully for Reseda, Temple Vasquez (who scored 20 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
