Amelia County has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Thomas Jefferson Vikings at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Amelia County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully the Vikings like a good challenge.
In what's become a running theme this season, Amelia County gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They blew past Lunenburg Central 82-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Amelia County had a senior duo take command as JUSTIN PERRY shot 4-for-10 from long range and dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds and JAIDEN SQUIRE scored 21 points along with six rebounds and five steals. PERRY is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was ANAIS KING, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Armstrong scored an imposing 55 points on Saturday, Thomas Jefferson still came out on top. Thomas Jefferson narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Wildcats 57-55. The victory was just what Thomas Jefferson needed coming off of a 71-44 defeat in their prior game.
Amelia County is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Thomas Jefferson, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.
Amelia County took a serious blow against the Vikings in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 66-34. Can Amelia County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
