The Oxford Wolverines will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Wolcott Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses dating back to last season for Oxford and four for Wolcott dating back to last season.
Oxford pushed their score all the way to 67 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were outmatched by Woodland Regional at home and fell 104-67. Oxford was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 61-26.
Meanwhile, Wolcott came up short against Watertown on Wednesday and fell 41-33.
Oxford bumped their record down to 0-4 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Wolcott, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
Oxford came up short against Wolcott in their previous matchup back in January, falling 54-45. Can Oxford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
