La Costa Canyon took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 66-37 win over St. Joseph Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for La Costa Canyon.
La Costa Canyon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keira Colestock led the charge by scoring 18 points. Clare Patrick was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
When it comes to explaining why St. Joseph Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Luciana Aguilar. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Aguilar scored a full 37.8% of St. Joseph Academy's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Nancy Chavez, who scored 6 points along with 5 assists.
La Costa Canyon's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for St. Joseph Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Costa Canyon will face off against Del Norte at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Del Norte focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Saturday. As for St. Joseph Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Oceanside at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Oceanside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday.
