Basketball Recap: Penns Manor Skates Past Purchase Line with Ease

Penns Manor won the last time they faced Purchase Line and things went their way on Friday too. The Penns Manor Comets blew past the Purchase Line Red Dragons, posting a 50-22 win. The Comets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 20 points or more this season.

Penns Manor's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alyssa Altemus, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine assists. Altemus has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Allie Mumau was another key player, going 5 for 8 on her way to 11 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Altemus wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Penns Manor was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Purchase Line only racked up five assists.

Despite the loss, Purchase Line saw an underclassman step up: freshman Rylee Mahaffey posted six points.

Penns Manor has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points over those games. As for Purchase Line, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season.

Penns Manor has already played their next game, a 54-40 victory against Cambria Heights on the 3rd. As for Purchase Line, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 46-16 win against Ferndale on the 4th.
