The Sierra Timberwolves will venture away from home to take on the Central Catholic Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sierra is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Mountain House 13-3 on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Timberwolves as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.
Collins Schluer made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Schluer was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Sierra let Rudy Barney and Ryan Reyes run wild. Barney went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run, while Reyes went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave Barney a new career-high. Riley Kane was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Sierra always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Central Catholic posted their closest win since May 29, 2024 on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lompoc, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Raiders as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Marcus Davenport spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits.
At the plate, Central Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joe Farinha, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Sierra's record is now 7-17. As for Central Catholic, their record now sits at 18-9.
Sierra suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Central Catholic when the teams last played back in March. Can the Timberwolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
