There's no place like home for the Dorchester Longhorns, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 39-29 victory over Shelby-Rising City on Thursday. The victory was just what Dorchester needed coming off of a 50-25 loss in their prior contest.
When it comes to explaining why Shelby-Rising City lost, one person who can't be blamed is Taya Pinneo. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 55.2% of Shelby-Rising City's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Dorchester pushed their record up to 9-4 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Shelby-Rising City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
Dorchester will square off against Hampton at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hampton and Dorchester are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. Shelby-Rising City will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Nebraska Christian on January 30th.
