Steele Canyon's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over El Cajon Valley.
Gavin Caha made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Caha was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.

In other batting news, Tommy Rimoldi and Johann Garcia did most of the damage at the plate: Rimoldi went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Garcia went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Rimoldi has become a key player for Steele Canyon: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Colton Pigeon, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Steele Canyon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Mount Miguel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Santana, falling 9-2.
Mount Miguel also got a good showing from Rene Lopez, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Lopez a new career-low in walks (zero).
On the hitting side, Mount Miguel saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Fonzy Nunez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.
Steele Canyon's win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-13. As for Mount Miguel, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
Steele Canyon took their victory against Mount Miguel in their previous matchup back in March of 2019 by a conclusive 13-2 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Matadors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
