Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, a fact the Torrey Pines Falcons proved on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 59-41 victory over Sage Creek. Torrey Pines pushed the score to 50-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bobcats cut but never quite recovered from.
Leading Torrey Pines to victory were Lily Oliva and Zoe Lau. Oliva scored eight points along with seven rebounds and five assists, while Lau scored 13 points along with seven assists and two steals. Oliva hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Sienna Barry was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two blocks.
Loss or not, Sage Creek got some senior leadership from Gia Kiesling and Harmony Lawler. Kiesling scored six points along with four blocks, while Lawler. scored eight points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Torrey Pines has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 14-12 record this season. As for Sage Creek, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Torrey Pines will square off against the Pirates at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Oceanside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday. As for Sage Creek, they will head out on the road to face off against the Lancers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
