Despite the loss, Escondido Charter still got an impressive performance from Kami Gillis, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Gillis scored a full 31.8% of Escondido Charter's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Mowrey, who scored nine points.
Central found their leader in underclassman Victoria Zamora, who scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Zamora scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Julianna Estrada, who scored nine points along with seven assists.
Escondido Charter has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season.
