Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Helix). Everything went their way against the Santana Sultans on Thursday as they made off with a 13-5 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Highlanders as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Antoin Simpson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Helix is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-7 otherwise. Simpson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other pitching news, Sean Sherrod tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Helix is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-8 otherwise.
