The Central Valley Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Centura Centurions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Central Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Central Valley strolled past Arcadia/Loup City with points to spare, taking the game 51-36. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Central Valley.
Central Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Piper Shepard out in front who scored 16 points along with 5 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Wadas, who scored 12 points along with 7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Centura had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They put the hurt on Fillmore Central with a sharp 41-20 win.
Kyra Wooden continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with 6 steals and 5 assists. The contest was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. Katie Hadenfeldt was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 6 rebounds.
Their wins bumped Central Valley to 3-1 and Arcadia/Loup City to 1-4.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's game: Central Valley have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 35.8% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Centura, though, as they've only nailed 28.3% of theirs this season. Given Central Valley's sizeable advantage in that area, Centura will need to find a way to close that gap. Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
Central Valley took a serious blow against Centura in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 64-26. Thankfully for Central Valley, Sydney Davis (who scored 15 points along with 9 rebounds and 6 steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
