The West Warriors will face off against the Arcadia Apaches at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games West has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
West fell victim to Palos Verdes and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Sea Kings by a score of 1-0.
Joey Campbell was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Arcadia made sure to put some runs up on the board against Glendale on Tuesday. The Apaches were the clear victors by a 24-1 margin over the Nitros. The result was nothing new for the Apaches, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Owen Edwards made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Matt Manzo looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jordan Vogel, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Leo Peniche, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Arcadia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
West has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Arcadia, their victory bumped their record up to 14-2.
West beat Arcadia 6-3 when the teams last played back in March of 2016. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Apaches have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
