The San Marino Titans are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season. they will challenge the Marshall Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
San Marino saw some tournament action on Friday. They blew past Flintridge Prep 9-1. The victory continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won four in a row.
Tom?s Bilvado was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Bilvado was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Chase Mena was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.
San Marino hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Flintridge Prep struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Marshall beat Verdugo Hills 6-1 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
Like San Marino, Marshall also got a great game from a two-way player: Nate Callaway. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Callaway was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times he's played.
In other pitching news, Michael Gerst looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
Callaway wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Adan Castro, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Caleb Thatcher was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
San Marino's record is now 2-0. As for Marshall, their record is now an identical 2-0.
San Marino took their win against Marshall when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 9-1. Will San Marino repeat their success, or does Marshall have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
