For the second straight game, Cannon will face off against Covenant Day. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Cannon Cougars challenge Covenant Day Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cannon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Cannon managed to slip by Covenant Day the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Cannon came up short against Covenant Day on Tuesday, falling 9-0. The match marked the first time this year in which the Cougars were not able to get on the board.

For Covenant Day's part, Issac Snapp tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave Snapp a new career-high.

At the plate, Hunter Kincheloe was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Charlie Kelly also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Covenant Day kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cannon only managed three hits.

The victory was the eighth in a row for Covenant Day, bringing their record up to 10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Cannon, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Cannon's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. Cannon has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Covenant Day, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Cannon continue to outrun the ball?
