16 must be Needles' lucky number: they beat Laughlin with that score not once but twice last Tuesday. The Mustangs never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Tyler Wilson was a standout: he scored two runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was JD Lusk, who scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Needles was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .579. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Lake Mead Christian Academy put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Indian Springs as they made off with a 16-1 victory.
Christian Marrs made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Lake Mead Christian Academy let Bowe Farmer and Cameron LaPres run wild. Farmer scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while LaPres scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Farmer is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Danny Yeates was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Lake Mead Christian Academy pushed their record up to 10-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Needles, their win bumped their record up to 11-6-1.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Needles has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .475. However, it's not like Lake Mead Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .563. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
