Muncie Central came out on top against Cowan on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Bearcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Blackhawks.
Aaron Coggeshall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Logan Campbell, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Muncie Central is 3-1 when Campbell posts two or more runs, but 1-13 otherwise. Rodney Dabney was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

Mt. Vernon's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Marauders have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Muncie Central, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Mt. Vernon continue to outrun the ball?
