The Avella Eagles were the 69-51 winner over the Bethlehem Center Bulldogs when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Avella took a 46-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs on Friday.
Ava Frank and Sydney Strope certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Frank almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds, while Strope dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 42.1% of Avella's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Avella has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for Bethlehem Center, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-9.
Avella will head out on the road to challenge the Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Geibel Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Thursday. As for Bethlehem Center, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Prexies at 6:00 p.m.
