In what's become a running theme this season, the Middletown Mustangs gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past Lower Lake 54-27 on the road. Given Middletown's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while Lower Lake is ranked 711th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Lower Lake lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tiahna Tubbs. Despite the final result, she scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That was a full 48.1% of Lower Lake's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Middletown's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31 points. As for Lower Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middletown will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Kelseyville at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th. Kelseyville is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for Lower Lake, they will head out on the road to challenge Willits at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Willits is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
