The Servite Friars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 90-50 loss at the hands of St. John Bosco. While losing is never fun, Servite can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while St. John Bosco is ranked first).
When it comes to explaining why Servite lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cj Landazabal. Despite the final result, he scored nine points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Rj Chastang, who scored 11 points.
Leading St. John Bosco to victory were Brandon McCoy Jr and Elzie Harrington. McCoy Jr scored 26 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, while Harrington scored 25 points along with six assists and three steals. Jack Turner was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Servite has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season. As for St. John Bosco, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-4.
Servite will be playing at home against Orange Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. John Bosco, they will head out on the road to take on Mater Dei at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
