Samueli Academy scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 62-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Newport Christian Seahawks. The defeat continues a trend for the Firewolves in their matchups with the Seahawks: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, Samueli Academy still got an impressive performance from Kennedy Cortez, who posted 23 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Cortez a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Genavivie Medrano, who put up 12 points.

Samueli Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Newport Christian, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-0.

Samueli Academy will venture away from home to square off against San Gabriel Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
